Slipper Club of Dallas 2015 Gala and Silent Auction
February 28, 2015
Belo Mansion 2101 Ross Avenue, Dallas, TX 75201
The Slipper Club of Dallas will host its Nineteenth Annual Casino and Silent Auction Gala Saturday, February 28, 2015, at the Belo Mansion in Dallas. This wonderful evening offers the women and friends of the club an opportunity to gather in support of a special charity. In past years, the Slipper Club has sponsored organizations such as: Communities in Schools, Heroes for Children, Cancer Support Community North Texas, Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center, Family Gateway, Buckner Children and Family Services, Hope Cottage, Community Partners of Dallas, Scottish Rite Hospital, Our Friend’s Place, Nexus Recovery, the Salvation Army, Genesis Women’s Shelter, Family Place, and New Friends New Life raising $489,500 to date. The Slipper Club is the oldest women’s social club in Dallas. We have been sponsoring events for the benefit of local charity organizations since 1996.
The Slipper Club is pleased to announce Camp John Marc as this year’s beneficiary. In 1991, Camp John Marc welcomed 500 campers over eight weeks during its inaugural summer. Almost 25 years later, CJM currently hosts eleven week-long summer camps and over 25 weekend camps. On average over 3,000 children, teens and family members attend a CJM camp every year. One week of summer camp for a single camper costs $585, of which the participating camps pay $195. Camp John Marc covers the remaining $390 (CJM fully funds two summer camps that otherwise would not be able to participate). By subsidizing two-thirds of the camper’s cost and maximizing the use of volunteers, CJM provides a residential camp experience for far less than what many traditional summer camp host sites charge organizations and camps serving children with special medical or accessibility needs.
