Established in 1934, Slipper Club is the first women’s social club in Dallas. The club was founded by four Idlewild debutantes who designed Slipper Club as an organization that would promote friendships among future women leaders in the Dallas community. Today, Slipper Club boasts more than 500 active members, comprised of women between the ages of 21 and 35.
While still committed to its founders’ vision of fostering lasting relationships, Slipper Club has expanded its mission to include community service and charitable giving programs. In 1995, Slipper Club became a 501(c)(3) as a way to honor, empower and support Dallas-area non-profit and charitable agencies that serve women and/or children. Each year the club researches and selects a different charity to serve as the beneficiary of their annual gala. With your help, we celebrate more than $620,000 funds raised in 20 years.
Proceeds from Slipper Club’s 21st Annual Gala & Silent Auction support our 2016-2017 beneficiary, Rays of Light (ROL). ROL strives to ensure that families have the tools needed to create a nurturing environment where special needs children can realize how extraordinary they are and how they can prosper in the community. One of their main programs, Night Lights, hosted from 6:00-to-10:00 PM on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Friday of every month, creates a unique evening for children with special needs (and their siblings) to socialize and interact with volunteers and peers through structured, fun and educational activities.
The funding that Slipper Club will raise on behalf of Rays of Light will directly fund their expansion plans. They are at capacity at their current location and are not able to accommodate additional children.
